Thanks for trying KISSTERM, version 1.02.

   First, this program is free for all amateur radio operators to use.

     Any donations will be greatly appreciated and can be sent
to the address at the bottom of this file.

The program is written in Turbo Pascal.
I'm only a hobby programmer and THERE IS BUGS in the program.
I've check the program on about all MFJ's and the KPC3 Kantronics tnc's.

     I started out to write a simple dumb terminal program, just to see
if I could add a function to take my MFJ out of KISS mode.
After using any of the ham BSS type programs that need to be put
into KISS mode, I found it was very hard to put the TNC back to
normal mode.
This is what I ended up with. It's a great little program and
doesn't take up much space.
You can even use it for a stand alone program on floppys.

START UP:
     You must start by running SETTERM.EXE program under the same directory that
your program you are using for NOS.
This writes a config file to disk that KISSTERM needs to run.
You can only use com ports 1 or 2.
I supplied a copy of my config file, so you can get it started with no errors.


FROM TERMINAL MODE:
1: A simple terminal program.
2: In the terminal program you can take the TNC (MFJ) out of KISS mode
and stay in terminal mode.
3: A screen, save to disk function.
4: You can drop to DOS.
5: Change the reconfigure KISSTERM settings. (Com. Ports 1 and 2 only, sorry!)
6: Blank the screen and a few more features that I thought would be
a help.

     In the Terminal mode hit ALT H to get all the command you can use.


FROM DOS:
The BIG thing one is that you can switch your MFJ or the KPC3 into
and out of KISS mode by using the DOS switch commands.
At DOS prompt you can get a help list by typing.
KISSTERM /H
In my NOS start up batch file, I put the DOS switch function to start up my
tnc in KISS mode. At the end of my nos session I use the DOS
switch to put the tnc back to normal mode.
This keeps you from having to start the terminal program to get out of KISS.

Caution:
Do not use the KPCKISS DOS function on a MFJ. If you do you will loose
all your MFJ tnc settings.
The command to start the KPC3 in KISS mode, rests the MFJ back to
factory default.

I will not be responsible for any loses due to this or any other
unforeseen problems.
I've been using this program for 5 to 6 years and haven't had any
major mishaps.
