Network-In-A- BoxTM (NIB)

interWAVE's Network-In-A-BoxTM (NIB) product offers the ability to support a complete GSM network by integrating a Mobile Switching Center (MSC), a Base Station Controller (BSC) and a Base Transceiver Station (BTS) in a single enclosure about the size of a PC tower. The NIB is designed for rapid deployment, with compactness suitable for many special applications, and the cost effectiveness for very small capacity networks or network extensions. The NIB can support either a completely stand-alone GSM network and integrate with existing wireline and wireless network infrastructures or can be deployed as part of an extension of an existing Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN). Its usage has ranged from remote small coverage areas often with satellite backhaul to enterprise private GSM networks integrating with private PBXs.

The NIB offers other benefits such as a cost-efficient GSM starter network because it allows wireless service providers to match their infrastructure expenditures to the growth of subscriber usage. It is easy to scale from a single NIB to a network requiring multiple MSC, BSC, and BTS.

WAVEXchange (WXC)

The WAVEXchange (WXC) is a standard GSM Mobile Switching Center (MSC) with a built-in Visitor Location Register (VLR)/ Home Location Register (HLR). interWAVE's WXC is extremely easy to operate and maintain and it performs standard MSC functions such as call processing, supplementary services, and mobility functions/interfaces. It is ideally suited for the lower density/capacity GSM networks where local switching can greatly reduce remote transmission costs.

As part of a GSM network, the WXC can be seamlessly integrated with an existing Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) network, another Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) network, or simply as an extension of an existing PLMN network. It is the only GSM switch on the market today that can act either as a Base Station Controller (BSC) extension of a central MSC or as a local MSC on a call-by-call basis: this is achieved using interWAVE's patented intelligent traffic management feaure, PALIM™. interWAVE’s WAVEXchange includes a CAMEL based SSP function designed to interface with an IN prepaid service. This enables operators to increase their service offering and competitive differentiation.

The WXC adopts the standard GSM interfaces and may be configured with up to 16 E1 or T1 ports that support up to 8,000 subscribers, depending network requirements.

UltraWave BTS 6

The UltraWAVE BTS 6 is interWAVE’s high capacity, macro Base Transceiver Station (BTS) which accommodates 6 TRX radios and is ideal for providing coverage in both urban and rural areas. Its industry leading power output (50W) increases the BTS coverage and provides sufficient capacity for urban populations. interWAVE’s UltraWAVE BTS 6 offers band operation in both 850 MHz and 900 MHz and supports frequency hopping, sectorization, and GPRS.

Designed for easy expansion, interWAVE’s UltraWAVE BTS 6 is field upgradeable making capacity growth safe and easy. Further, field replaceable modules are hot swappable which eliminates the need to shut down or recalibrate the system to restore normal operations. This unique approach allows an operator to employ an incremental, build-as-you-grow approach – as subscriber demand increases, the initial deployment can easily expand into a higher capacity system that is capable of supporting more subscribers.

UltraWAVE BTS 6 also simplifies maintenance and lowers the associated costs by featuring remote monitoring, external alarms, overtemp protection, redundant power supply, field replaceable modules and front access.
